    September 5, 2019

    Dear Friends and Neighbors,

On September 5, 2019, Kevin Wojciechowski at EGLE,  gave me a well testing update that we could share on our website.   This is great news for our township!   Please read and share  the following paragraph drafted by Kevin:

Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) received the results last Friday (8/30) for 24 of the 25 homes that were sampled for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).  One home on Indian Trail had a very minor detection of Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) at 3 parts per trillion, the other 23 homes were non-detect for the 14 PFAS compounds that were analyzed.  The EGLE groundwater cleanup criteria for PFOA is 70 ppt.  The home with the minor detection of PFOA is southeast of the landfill and has non-detect wells located between this home and the landfill.  So the detection of PFOA appears to be an anomaly for the area and appears to have no connection to the landfill.  We also had a home on Indian Trail that was sampled on August 23rd, so EGLE still waiting for the last well result.

If you have any questions regarding this please contact me, at (810)765-1145, ext 205 or at home at (810)329-9307.

    China Township Supervisor

    Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Listed below you will find all associated communication from EGLE, at the State, regarding PFAS at the Huron Development Landfill, owned by the City of Marine City.

As it stands now, no further information has been received as to any results of the testing that took place.  As soon as I receive confirmation, one way or the other from the State I will update this site.

Please keep checking back  here for all accurate information.
